Blog Talk Radio Annual Expert Fantasy Football Draft

2016 Blog Talk Radio

It’s the second annual Blog Talk Radio Fantasy Football draft, and I’ve got a title to defend. It’s me against eight of the best fantasy football experts in the world – and oh yeah Podvader from Next Fan Up is in the league too.

I’m kidding – sort of.

In actuality, this is my first podcast of the 2016 season and a restart in my sports fandom. After all, I am trying to discover my love of sports on my terms after the death of my husband in February. This isn’t easy to do because I don’t remember being this passionate about sports before I met him – not to the point where my free time is spent watching endless ESPN.

As I’m rebuilding this sports fandom of mine, fantasy football seems like a great place to start. It’s familiar. It forces me to pay attention to all of the NFL, and it’s community-based. All things that are needed right now as I am still struggling to comprehend that I am a widow. It just still feels odd to care about anything – let alone grown-ups screaming at other grown-ups who are paid millions of dollars to play children’s games.

But I love watching sports – I love being around fans, I love the smell of the field, the feel of the bleachers, and the way your heart races when you see your favorite running back break through a tackle to score.

I love being a sports fan – and I loved being my husband’s wife.

So, how do I get to the point where I can authentically view and cheer for sports? I won’t know until I give it the old college try.

Listening to experts pick fantasy teams is great because we often make the same mistakes you do – this year you’ll see a run on wide receivers which is odd given this is a standard league and not a PPR.

I would love to know what you think of my draft. Reach out to me on twitter @SportsGalPal or you can leave a comment below.
